Endpoint Security Licensing in Bangladesh — EDR Buying Guide

Antivirus renewals are frequently the last line reviewed and the first line cut. That is backwards: endpoint licensing is the cheapest control that limits an expensive incident.

Antivirus, EPP and EDR

Traditional antivirus matches known threats. Endpoint protection platforms add behavioural detection, device and web control. EDR adds recorded telemetry, detection of suspicious behaviour chains and the ability to investigate and roll back an incident.

Count every endpoint, including servers

Under-licensing happens when servers, virtual machines and remote laptops are excluded from the count. Licence the whole estate; a gap is exactly where an incident starts.

Cloud console or on-premises

A cloud console removes server maintenance and gives visibility over remote staff. On-premises consoles remain relevant where policy forbids off-shore telemetry — decide this before choosing a vendor.

Renewals and multi-year terms

Two and three-year terms materially reduce cost per endpoint and remove annual re-approval. MacX supplies Bitdefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Sophos and Trend Micro business tiers with BDT invoicing and renewal management.

Frequently asked questions

Is free antivirus acceptable for a business?
No — consumer and free editions are not licensed for commercial use and have no central management or reporting.
Do we need EDR or is EPP enough?
If you hold customer, financial or regulated data, or must answer client security questionnaires, EDR is now the expected baseline.
Can MacX supply managed EDR?
Yes — managed detection options are available alongside licence supply.
